Latest From Tech With Dom - Early June 2022

Published almost 2 years ago • 2 min read

Hey Friends,

How's it going? Welcome to the latest release of my newsletter!

The past two weeks have taken an expected turn with the EU provisionally agreeing that all new portable devices must use a USB-C charger by Autumn 2024. Whilst USB-C is common in the Android world, it certainly isn't in Apple's world with all iPhones still using lightening. In my opinion, the move is actually a good thing because USB-C is superior as not only does it offer a higher power delivery, it delivers a faster charge at the same voltage. You can read more on the difference on this article on Limewire.

Now what makes this even more interesting is that the UK government has decided that will not join the EU in their ambitions for a common charging cable, which I think is a shame considering the advantages USB-C brings over lightning. But hopefully the EU's move will prompt Apple to add USB-C ports world wide.

Behind the scenes

As always, I've spent the past two weeks recording content and writing some pretty cool posts. As my channel is getting more and more popular, I'm thinking of starting to record footage using a DSLR, which I'm not yet too familiar with but I'm planning to record some trial shots this week to see how I get on. For those of you who are unaware, over the last few years, I've been recording content using my smartphone, but I seriously think it's time to start getting more professional.

I'm also working on another guest post for the Simple Programmer blog, but there will be more on that over the next two or so weeks. This will be my second blog post on the blog, if you haven't checked out my previous one, you can check it out here.

By Dom Kwolczak Roll into action and give this fantastic app a whirl! Hi All, Hope you're all doing well! This has been a bit of a strange week mainly because of how fast the weather changed. The week started with it being around 12 to 14°C and then halfway through the week it dropped to below 5°C! I remember Thursday morning being pretty warm but then when I left the office it was so cold! That has of course spoiled my plans for recording content for my channel as I didn't think to take...

By Dom Kwolczak I Want To Try Something New! Hi All, This has been another incredibly busy week, both for Tech With Dom as well as my day job. When working a full-time job and doing something on the side such as running a side hustle or learning a new skill, things can quickly become very busy and you have to know how to plan your time properly. I tend to plan my week during the weekend using a to-do list as well as a calendar app, but I've lately been watching many productivity videos and I...

🖥️ Microsoft Needs To Do This NOW! Hi All, I started the week with a random thought and if you think about it, it actually makes sense, especially in this day and age - but we'll get to that a little later. First, I wanted to mention that Microsoft Windows has always been an operating system I associate work and corporate life with. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that most companies I ever worked for used Windows of some variation. According to research, Microsoft Windows also...
